The Henry Luce Foundation has funded a three year project aimed at exploring the relationship between religious identity and international relations. Entitled Religion, Identity and Global Governance (RIGG), this is a collaborative project of the Center for International Studies, the School of International Relations, the Center on Public Diplomacy at the Annenberg School, the Center on Religion and Civic Culture and the Knight Chair in Media and Religion at the Annenberg School. Those students studying in fields that will lead to careers in international policy-making and diplomacy are the target audience.
RIGG is developing new courses at the graduate and advanced undergraduate level as part of this grant. Course content must address the relationship between religious identity and international relations and courses must be such that they can be cross-listed in public diplomacy, international relations or in SIR’s other joint MA programs with the Law School and the School of Public Policy and Development. Only permanent USC faculty may apply, and we will award 10-12 stipends of up to $4000 over the next three years. Should you have any questions about the course development process or the Luce Project, please contact Steve Lamy at lamy@usc.edu or Patrick James at patrickj@usc.edu.
